The owner told me that they started with Hunt's Tomato Sauce and cooked it down. I have been trying to make it for some time now, since I moved from Raleigh. I am trying again today. If I get it I'll post the recipe.

Food Lion's Manwich Sauce is close with the addition of red peppers, sugar and lime juice, but it has too much chili powder in the base.
