When I baked the cheesecake I did put a pan of water in the oven along with it. I was also told that if you allow the cheesecake to cool in the oven with the door open after it is finished baking that this will prevent the cake from splitting on the top. When determining if the cake is done or not I just used a toothpick inserted into the cake section of the cheesecake. Enjoy!!
