I grew-up in El Paso and now live in east tx, and I crave these all the time! So, this is my version of the "Chico's Tacos" sauce....it's as close as I can get! (I'm no lab tech, but we love um!)

SAUCE:
1 (14.5 oz.) can peeled tomatos
1/2 can of water (from the tomatos)
1 medium fresh jalapeno
1 medium clove garlic
1/2 tsp. salt
pinch of oregano

Place all ingredients in blender (chop stem-end of jalapeno, and slice to remove seeds). Puree on high 2 to 3 minutes,(you might need to add more water-you want it fairly thin)

Cook on high and bring to boil, lower heat and simmer about 15-20 minutes.

I hope you enjoy this as much as we do! I also have cloned the green hot sauce if you need it! Let me know ...
