Norwegian Cookies
1 cup butter (no substitutes) 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp almond flavor 2 cups all purpose flour 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts red or green colored sugar or sprinkles
Cream butter and sugar well. Add the egg and extracts and beat until fluffy.
Add the flour and nuts and mix until just moistened throughout. Cover and chill about 1 hour or until firm enough to handle. Shape into 1 inch balls and place on cookie sheet that has been sprayed with pam. Flatten the balls to about 1/4 inch thickness with a glass that has been dipped in colored sugar or sprinkles. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes or until cookies are set and barely brown.
