Grease well a 9x5 inch loaf pan

1 3/4 cups flour
2/3 cups sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup margarine
1 cup mashed very ripe bananas (2 or 3)
2 eggs
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup raisins
1 cup mixed diced candied fruit
OR:
1/4 cup chopped candied citron
1/4 cup chopped candied orange peel
1/4 cup chopped candied cherries
1/4 cup chopped candied pineapple

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. With a pastry blender or fork, cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add bananas and eggs and mix with electric mixer at low speed; beat at medium speed 2 minutes. Add nuts and fruits and beat until well blended. Turn into prepared pan. Bake at 350F degrees 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until done. Let cool in pan on rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan; let cool completely on rack.
