HOT CHEESE BARS
2 large or 3 small loaves Pepperidge Farm sandwich bread FOR THE SPREAD: 1 lb. butter or margarine, softened 4 jars Old English cheese spread 1 1/2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tbsp. dill weed 1 tsp. onion powder 1 tsp. Tabasco Dash cayenne
Beat the ingredients for the spread together until consistency of icing.
Trim crusts from bread. Using 3 slices at a time, until all of the spread is used. Spread filling thinly on 2 slices. Top with 3rd slice. Cut stack into 6 pieces. Frost sides and place close together on cookie sheet. Carefully frost tops.
Freeze on cookie sheet in freezer until frozen firm. Then place in plastic bag for convenience. Leave frozen until ready to serve.
WHEN READY TO BAKE: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Place frozen bars close together on baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until browned and crisp. Be sure to place in oven directly from freezer. Serve warm.
CHEESE PETIT-FOURS (MICROWAVE)
3 (1 lb.) loaves Pepperidge Farm sandwich bread (square loaf) 1 lb. margarine (4 sticks) 4 (5 oz.) jars Kraft Old English cheese spread 1 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp. Tabasco 1 tsp. onion powder Dash of cayenne pepper Dill weed & cayenne pepper for topping
Cut crust off 2 and 1/2 loaves bread (3 slices at a time.
Beat margarine, cheese spread, Worcestershire, Tabasco, onion powder and cayenne pepper with a rotary beater or process in a food processor until consistency of icing.
Spread cheese mixture between each layer of bread. Quarter Each petit-four is 3 slices thick. Spread cheese all over sides and top of each quarter. Sprinkle dill weed and cayenne over top of each petit-four.
Freeze petit-fours on cookie sheet. Transfer to plastic bags for convenience and return to freezer.
WHEN READY TO SERVE: Place 12 frozen petit-fours on a glass plate. Cover with wax paper (optional). Cook in microwave on high 3 minutes. Turn dish once. Serve hot from the microwave.
