i got this recipe from MIDWEST LIVING magazine a few years back and it has been a favorite. In fact, I am making it today. Happy holidays.

Maple Nutty Candy

12 ounces chocolate flavored candy coating, cut up
1 12 ounce package butterscotch pieces
1 1/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 tablespoon maple flavoring
1 (4 servins) package regular or instant butterscotch pudding mix
1 teaspoons vanilla
2 pounds sifted powdered sugar
3 cups salted peanuts, chopped

In a heavy sauce pan combine the candy coating and butterscotch pieces. Cook and stir over how heat till melted. Sir in peanut butter. Spread 1 3/4 cups of the mixture into a greased 15x10x1 inch baking pan. Refrigerate till firm. (about 20 minutes). Set remaining mixture aside. Meanwhile, in a large pan, melt butter or margarine. Stir in evaporated milk and pudding mix. cook and stir over medium heat till thickened. Will appear curdled. Stir in flavorings and powdered sugar. Carefully spread over cooled chocolate mix in pan. If necessary, reheat the remaining chocolate mixture to melt and stir in peanuts. Carefully spread over pudding. Chill to set. Cut into squares. Markes about 6 pounds or 60 (1 1/2 inch squares)

I don't know if you are old enough to remember BUN candy bars but this reminds me a lot of the maple ones. Always a favorite.
