Bacon Cheese Bread (Machine) alt.bread.recipes/Limeyno1 (2002) Source: DAK Gourmet Gazette, Vol 1, Issue 2. Origin: Hitachi Cookbook
1 cup tap water 3 cups all purpose flour 1/2 cup cheese (grated, sharp) 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar 1 1/2 tablespoons butter 1 1/2 teaspoons dry yeast 3 tablespoons bacon bits
Hitachi - Using the MIX BREAD cycle
Add the bacon bits when beeping sounds during kneading process. Place ingredients into pan according to manufacturer's directions. Press Start.
**MY NOTES** I didn't use bacon bits. I used REAL bacon. I cut most of the fat off, then cooked it to almost crisp state. Then I chopped it up into very small pieces. It turned out very nice. I used a medium cheddar for the first try, and the cheese got kinda lost in the loaf... 8-} Shared by: Sharon Stevens
