Beer Biscuits

6 cups biscuit mix (Pioneer or Bisquik)
1 cup sugar
Beer at room temperature (but not flat)
Butter flavored shortening, melted

Preheat oven to 375F

Mix biscuit mix and sugar well. Starting with 1/2 cup and adding more as needed, mix in beer to form a wet, sticky dough, just a little wetter than regular biscuit dough. (I use all but 1/2 cup of a 12 oz. beer)

Spoon the dough onto a floured surface. Lightly dust ths top with flour, then pat out dough by hand to a uniform thickness of 1/2 inch. Cut biscuits with a cutter or water glass.

Coat the bottom of a baking pan with a thin film of butter flavored shortening and arrange biscuits in the pan. Brush the biscuits with more of the melted shortening.
Bake approx. 10 to 12 minutes or until golden.
