Amy's Mom's Applesauce Cake

Here's my mom's recipe for applesauce cake. Nothing fancy but it sure is a comfort food for me!

1/2 cup soft shortening
2 cups sugar
1 large egg
1 1/2 cups applesauce
2 7/8 cups sifted cake flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup walnuts
1 cup raisins

Cream shortening, sugar, and egg. Add dry ingredients. Stir in 1/2 cup walnuts, cut-up, and 1 cup raisins. Stir in applesauce after egg is beaten in. Bake in 13x9-inch pan at 350 degrees F. for 35-40 minutes.
