Orange Oven French Toast
alt.cooking/gramma007/2002

I have an Easter Brunch every year and this is always a big hit. But you don't have to wait till Easter. I got this from a Pillsbury Brunch book, years ago.

Makes 16 slices

1/2 cup margarine or butter, melted
1/4 cup honey
2 tsp. cinnamon
6 eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup orange juice
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp. grated orange peel
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
16 slices of whole wheat or white bread

Heat oven 400F. In small bowl, combine margarine, honey and 2 tsp. cinnamon: mix well. Pour mixture evenly into 2 ungreased 15x10x1-inch baking sheets.

In medium bowl, slightly beat eggs. Add milk, orange juice, sugar, orange peel, salt and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon: mix well. Dip bread in egg mixture. Place on margarine mixture in pans. Pour any remaining egg mixture over bread. **see below**

Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown, turning halfway through
baking Arrange on platter. Serve with:

Orange Honey Butter
1/2 cup margarine or butter softened
1/4 cup honey
1 tsp. grated orange peel

Beat at high speed until light and creamy. serve in orange shell.

**I usually make this the night before. At this point, bread can be covered and refrigerated overnight. Uncover and bake as directed above.
