I have seen many other cookies similar to these but not the same, these are rich, heavy and almond flavored and melt in your mouth! I usually make a quadrupled recipe at Christmas, and it is very successful. Also I use a small 1" cookie scoop to form the cookies into small balls, that's really a time saver and you can do several sheets quickly.
1/2 cup butter (use the real thing, substitutes don't work as well) 3 TBS. sugar 1 TBS. heavy cream (whipping cream)
Blend above well and add:
1 cup flour 1/2 tsp. Almond Extract (not flavor, the extract is stronger) 1/4 tsp. salt
Mix well. Drop by small teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 30 minutes at 275 to 300 degree oven, just until they start to get brown. Remove from oven, roll in powdered sugar and let cool on a rack. Keeps well in tins with waxed paper between layers. |
