Writer's Block Oatmeal-Raisin Cookies Recipe By : San Jose Mercury News 2-7-01 Serving Size : 24
1 cup butter -- softened 1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar 2 eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla 2 teaspoons water 2 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon allspice 2 cups rolled oats 1 cup raisins -- to 2
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar. Add eggs, vanilla and water and beat until smooth.
Sift dry ingredients together. Add to butter mixture and mix well. Fold in oats and raisins.
Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet, leaving enough space for the cookies to spread out. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until golden.
Makes 2 dozen large cookies.
