VIRGINIA DANIEL'S RED AND GOLD BLOODY MARYS Source: Cynthia Hizer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 7/20/00 Servings: 4
Virginia Daniel of Atlanta plucks tomatoes from her kitchen garden and has fun serving these red and gold drinks on football weekends, to root for either University of Georgia or Georgia Tech. I simply squeezed fresh tomatoes for the juice for my Bloody Marys, but Daniel likes to cook the tomato juice down a bit to produce a thicker drink. She sometimes also adds a dash of Worcestershire sauce.
ice cubes, as needed 1 cup fresh red tomato juice 1 cup fresh yellow tomato juice 4 jiggers vodka 4 dashes Tabasco sauce 1 large lemon, quartered lemon pepper, as desired 4 sticks celery
Fill four highball (8-ounce) glasses with ice.
Put 1/2 cup tomato juice in each (two will be red, two will be gold).
To each add 1 jigger vodka and a dash Tabasco.
Squeeze the juice from a quartered lemon into each, then add the lemon.
Add a dash of lemon pepper to the top of each, then a celery stick and serve.
