ORIENTAL TURKEY LOAF
1 pound ground turkey 1 pound ground veal 5 green onions, chopped 1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained 1 (7 1/2 ounce) jar hoisin sauce 2 eggs 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1 tablespoon chopped fresh ginger root 2 teaspoons Chinese mustard or Dijon mustard 1 teaspoon sesame oil 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1/2 to 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, combine the turkey, veal, green onions, water chestnuts, 1/2 cup of the hoisin sauce, eggs, soy sauce, ginger, Chinese mustard, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and the breadcrumbs, mixing with a wooden spoon or your hands. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared pan.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Remove from the oven and spread the remaining Hoisin sauce over the top. Cover loosely with foil and return to the oven for 30 to 40 minutes longer.
Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve
