CARAWAY CRISPS

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
4 to 6 tbsp water
milk
caraway seeds

Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add cheese, mixing well. Add water gradually to mixture; then mix until a dry crumbly dough is formed.

Turn dough out onto a floured surface, and knead several times. Roll out to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into 1 1/4-inch diamond-shaped pieces. Brush with milk, and sprinkle with caraway seeds.

Bake at 425 degrees F for 12-15 minutes or until browned.

Makes about 5 dozen
