CHOCOLATE PANINI8 (1/2-inch) thick slices sourdough bread, buttered on 1 side
4 to 8 ounces semisweet or milk chocolate, chopped with a heavy knife
whipped butter
Lay slices of bread, butter side down, on the
Panini Maker.
Sprinkle the chopped chocolate evenly onto the 4 slices of bread. Then cover each with a second slice of bread, butter side up.
Grill panini for 3-4 minutes or until bread is golden and chocolate is melted. Using a spatula, carefully turn each panini over to bake for another minute.
Let cool slightly before serving.
VARIATIONS:CHERRY CHOCOLATE PANINI: Add 4 ounces
dried cherries. (Or any dried fruit of your choice.)
CHOCOLATE ALMOND PANINI: Add 4 ounces
slivered almonds. (Or any nut of your choice.)
CHOCOLATE JAVA PANINI: Add 4 teaspoons
instant coffee. (1 teaspoon per panini.)
CHOCOLATE, PEANUT BUTTER AND BANANA PANINI:Add 4 tablespoons peanut butter and layer with sliced bananas
