HAMBURGER PATTIES, TWICE-TOPPED
2/3 cup undiluted evaporated milk 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef 1/2 cup fine cracker or bread crumbs 1 egg 1/2 cup chopped onion 1 teaspoon garlic salt 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 Tablespoon prepared mustard 2 cups well-seasoned hot mashed potatoes (may use instant) 3 slices American cheese
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Combine milk, ground beef, cracker or bread crumbs, egg, onion, garlic salt, salt and mustard thoroughly. Form into 6 patties.
Bake for 20 minutes or to desired doneness on broiler pan or rack in a baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Place about 1/3 cup mashed potatoes on each patty. Cut cheese slices into 4 strips each and criss-cross 2 on top of each patty on top of mashed potatoes. Put back in oven for 3-4 minutes until cheese is melted.
