MEATBALL HERO SANDWICHES
1/2 pound ground beef 1/4 pound bulk hot Italian sausage 1/4 cup fine dry seasoned bread crumbs 1 beaten egg 1 (15 ounce) can Hunt’s Ready Tomato Sauces Original Italian 1 teaspoon sugar 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese 4 (6 inch) hoagie buns, split and toasted (for serving)
Combine ground beef, Italian sausage, bread crumbs, and egg in a small mixing bowl. Shape mixture into twelve 1 1/2-inch balls.* Place meatballs on a foil-lined baking sheet.
Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 25 minutes; drain meatballs on paper towels.
Combine Hunt’s Ready Tomato Sauces Original Italian and sugar in a large saucepan. Stir in meatballs. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 10 minutes. Stir in cheese.
TO SERVE: Spoon 3 meatballs and some of the sauce into each bun.
*Note: To shape even-size meatballs, mold the meat mixture into a log about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Cut log into 12 even slices. With your hands, shape each slice into a smooth ball.
TO MAKE AHEAD: Next time you make the sandwiches above, double the meatball recipe and freeze half after baking, and you can have another homemade meal on your table in minutes. To serve, heat two cans of your favorite Hunt’s Ready Tomato Sauces in a large saucepan. Add the frozen meatballs and simmer over medium-low heat about 20 minutes or until the meatballs are heated through, stirring often. Spoon the meatballs and sauce over mounds of hot cooked spaghetti or other pasta.
