HOMEMADE TERIYAKI SAUCE
3/4 cup water 1/4 cup soy sauce 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed 2 Tbsp. lemon juice 1/2 tsp. ground ginger 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 1/4 tsp. onion powder 2 Tbsp. corn starch 2 Tbsp. water
Combine first 7 ingredients in a small saucepan and heat to a boil, stirring occasionally.
Mix together corn starch and water; stir into hot mixture. Return to boiling and simmer one minute while stirring constantly. Stir until smooth and thoroughly blended.
Serve warm or cold.
Serve over grilled beef, chicken or pork on a bed of rice. Stir fry with vegetables and meat and serve with rice or Chinese noodles. Use as a dip for fried chicken fingers, pork, shrimp or vegetables.
to use as a marinade: Refrigerate overnight in a sealed container. Pour over pork chops, chicken breasts or beef cubes and let marinate 2 hours in refrigerator. Broil, brushing meat with marinade 2 or 3 times while cooking.
