MOLASSES CRACKERS (COOKIES)

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. salt

Combine sugar, shortening, molasses, and egg; set aside.

Combine remaining ingredients. Add to molasses mixture and stir together.

Roll into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 375 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes.
