HERO HAMBURGERS

2 pounds ground beef
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup Open Pit Barbecue Sauce, divided use
1/4 cup finely chopped process American cheese
1/4 cup relish or pickle slices
1/4 cup chopped onion
8 hamburger buns (for serving)

Combine beef, eggs, salt, and 1/4 cup of the barbecue sauce; mix lightly. Divide into 16 portions; gently shape into thin round patties.

Place about 1 teaspoon each cheese, relish, onion, and barbecue sauce on half of the patties. Top with remaining patties; press together to seal in filling.

Broil or fry about 4 minutes on one side. Then turn, baste with remaining barbecue sauce, and continue cooking about 4 minutes.

Serve in buns. If desired, buns may be toasted.

Makes 8 sandwiches
