SOUTHERN BARBECUE SWEET SLAW DOGSFOR EACH SERVING:1 pork and beef hot dog, grilled
1 hot dog bun, toasted
Tomato-based barbecue sauce
Southern Barbecue Sweet Slaw (recipe follows)
Place grilled hot dog in bun. Top with a slathering of barbecue sauce and a generous helping of slaw. Serve immediately.
SOUTHERN BARBECUE SWEET SLAWMakes about 8 cups
1 cup sugar
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
6 to 8 peppercorns or 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
6 cups finely shredded cabbage
2 cups finely shredded carrots
Process all slaw ingredients except cabbage and carrots in blender or food processor until smooth. Toss the dressing with cabbage and carrots.
