SUPER-CHUNK BROWNIES6 squares (1 ounce each) semi-sweet chocolate
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup dried cherries or cranberries
1/2 cup large semisweet chocolate chips or chocolate chunks
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat 12 x 7 1/2 x 2-inch glass baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Melt chocolate squares and butter in top of a double boiler over simmering water, stirring until smooth.
Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl; set aside.
Beat eggs and sugar in a second large bowl until blended, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in chocolate mixture and vanilla until blended. Beat in flour mixture. Reserve 2 tablespoons nuts. Add remaining nuts, dried cherries and chocolate chips to batter. Scrape into pan. Sprinkle reserved nuts over top.
Bake in heated 350 degree oven 30 to 35 minutes or until firm on top. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
