No-Knead Nut or Raisin Bread From: Annie Downing Newsgroup: misc.consumers.frugal-living Date: 11-9-2000 Makes 1 loaf
Combine: 1/2 cup milk, scalded 3 tbsp. shortening 1 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. salt
Cool to lukewarm by adding: 1/2 cup water
Add: 1 pkg. active dry yeast or 2 tsp. bulk yeast 1 egg 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Add and mix until dough is well blended: 3 cups flour
This dough will be softer than kneaded dough. Shape into loaf on a well floured board. Place in a greased loaf pan and cover. Let rise in a warm place until double, about 1 hour. Bake at 350 F for 1 hour.
For Raisin Bread: Omit nuts and add 1 cup raisins and 1 tsp. cinnamon.
