No-Knead Pan Rolls From: Annie Downing Newsgroup: misc.consumers.frugal-living Date: 11-9-2000
These are dinner rolls for the lazy. My favorite way of doing things! You can have fresh dinner rolls in 1 hour.
Combine 1 cup lukewarm water 1/3 cup melted shortening 1 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. salt
Add and mix well: 2 packages of yeast or 4 tsp. bulk yeast
Blend in: 1 egg
Add and mix until dough is blended and soft: 3 1/2 cup flour
Roll out on a well floured board and fit into a 12x8 inch pan.
Cut the dough with a knife, once down the middle, then crossways to form 1x4-inch rectangles. Brush the cut sides with melted butter.
Let rise in a warm place until double, usually about 30 minutes. Bake at 400 F for about 20 minutes.
