Grannies Recipe notes: Mon Feb 27, 1978 Rhode Island, Beautiful almost spring like day, the snow still around, but not on streets. (Isn't that cool)

In 2 qt saucepan put:
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup hot water
1/4 tsp salt

Cook and stir until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to boiling. Cook to hard - ball state (250 degrees) without stirring, wipe crystals from side now and then with damp cloth on fork. Remove from heat.

Immediately beat 2 egg whites stiff, at high speed. (about 5 minutes) add 1 tsp vanilla and beat until mixture forms peaks and begin to lose gloss. (I GREW UP BEATING BY HAND, NOT MIXER, MAKES IT MORE AUTHENTIC FOR ME, SO I STILL DO) Drop from teaspoon onto waxed paper. let set overnight. Dries to a melt in your mouth yummy.

I eat it off the spoon while still gooey on the spoon.
