Mom's Fruitcake Cookies

Makes ten dozen
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon soda -- dissolved in 1 1/2 teaspoons milk
1 1/2 cup sifted flour
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 pound candied cherries
1/2 pound candied pineapple -- chopped
1 pound white raisins
1/2 cup apple juice
1 pound pecan halves
Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Add dissolved soda. Sift together flour, cloves nutmeg and cinnamon. Add to mixed candied fruit and raisins. Mix well. Blend fruit-flour mixture into first mixture. Add apple juice slowly, mixing well. Fold in pecan halves. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet (you may have to shape slightly). Bake in 300 degree oven for 20 minutes.
