Banana Bread (with brown sugar and buttermilk)
rec.food.cooking/Lauri (lauschbird)
Makes 2 large loaves

This is my great grandmother's recipe, and the best banana bread I have ever tasted. This bread is very moist and it freezes well!

3 ripe bananas, mashed
2 eggs
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 tsp soda
2 cups flour
1/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup nuts, chopped

In medium bowl beat eggs. Cream together sugars, shortening buttermilk and bananas. Blend in by hand the flour, soda and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
