Mother's Thousand Island Dressing Newsgroup posting by Alyce Cresap
Here is my mother's Thousand Island Dressing recipe. It is good dressing and as near as any I know to the real and original thing.
1/2 pint salad dressing (or mayonnaise) 1/4 cup chili sauce or catsup/ketchup 1 Tablespoon vinegar A dash of Tabasco 1/2 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce 1 small onion, finely diced 1 teaspoon sugar 1 teaspoon mustard (like Gulden's, not the yellow kind) and if you make your own mustard from powder, and it's very hot, then use a little less than 1 tsp. 1 teaspoon horseradish 1 hard-cooked egg, finely chopped some black olives, finely chopped
Mix it all up. Tastes best if you keep it (chilled) for 24 hours before using, so all the stuff can 'meld'. |
