Oatmeal Cake

Mix and let stand 20 minutes:
1 cup Quick oatmeal
1 1/2 cup boiling water

Mix:
1 stick butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Add to oats, then sift together:
1 1/3 cup flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Add to first mixture and bake in a 9x13-inch greased pan for 35-40 min at 350 or til cake tests done with a toothpick.

While cake is baking, mix:
1 cup brown sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 cup cream or milk
1 cup coconut
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Cook for 2 min. after it comes to a boil. Spread on cake when done. Place under broiler for 1 1/2 minutes.
