BASIC IMPERIAL DRESSING WITH VARIATIONS
1/2 cup Regina Red Wine Vinegar 1/3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. onion salt 1 tsp. celery seed 1 tsp. paprika 1/2 tsp. dill weed 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 (8 oz.) can Del Monte Tomato Sauce 1 cup olive oil 2 Tbsp. capers, undrained 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 clove garlic, minced
Combine vinegar, sugar, salt, onion salt, celery seed, paprika, dill weed and pepper in saucepan. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer minutes. Pour into quart jar; cool.
Add tomato sauce, olive oil, capers, Worcestershire sauce and garlic. Cover tightly and shake to blend. Store in refrigerator until ready to use.
Toss with chilled mixed vegetables or salad greens, as desired.
Makes 2 2/3 cups
VARIATIONS:
CREAM CHEESE IMPERIAL: Soften 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese; gradually blend in 1/2 cup Basic Imperial Dressing. Mix until well blended.
SOUR CREAM IMPERIAL: Combine 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/4 cup Basic Imperial Dressing, 1 tsp. sugar and 2 Tbsp. Del Monte Sweet Pickle Relish.
MAYONNAISE IMPERIAL: Combine 1/2 cup mayonnaise and 1/4 cup Basic Imperial Dressing. Stir in 1/4 cup Del Monte Tomato Catsup.
