Recipe(tried): Uses for green onions
Recipe CollectionsThe blades can be frozen or dried for future use and the white part freezes--use ice trays and bag up the cubes.
Chop the white section and use on baked potatoes instead of chives and to season potato soup.
Mix them and some of the green blades with sour cream and season it for dip.
Use the chopped whole onion as a garnish for hummus, or put them in fresh pickles of turnip or cukes.
They can be used to season steamed carrots instead of white onion, or in place of many recipes calling for Vidalia or Texas sweet onions. They're great in chicken and dumplings or conventional beef stews.
Oriental cooking uses up plenty. Stir-fry whole cut green onions with beef or pork and Chinese marinades; use them in fried rice.
Green onions are great in omelets, whether Western, French, or foo yung.
Check recipe for Hummus here and use those great fresh garbanzo beans. Merry Christmas!
