Recipe: candy christmas train recipe

Misc.
Christmas Candy Train

Supplies needed:

Flat piece of cardboard for base, covered with paper or foil

Full size candy bars (Snickers, Milky Way, 3 Muskateers)

Small size candy bars (as above)

Engine is one full size bar and two small bars. Cars can either be made using full size or small bars.

Round peppermint candies (4 each on engine and each car)

Red licorice string (small piece to join cars together)

Black licorice (rope or sticks for train tracks)

2 Rolos

4 Lifesavers

1 orange slice

Candies for cargo: gumdrops, kisses, red or black licorice vines cut up like logs, etc.

Glue: white confectioner's icing from grocery store

To assemble: Using black licorice and icing, lay track on the covered board.

To make the engine, place two small candy bars, one on the other as the engineer's compartment, and attach to full size bar

Two Rolos will make the smokestack (glue small ends together, then attach to other end of candy bar)

Use four Lifesavers laying sideways on their edges between smokestack and engineer's compartment

Glue orange slice on front edge as grill, cut red gumdrop to round disk as headlight

To finish: Poke hole with toothpick into end of each candybar to insert red licorice string to join train together. Attach peppermint wheels to engine and each car, and place on "track" Glue cargo on each car

You can decorate your board with icing and extra candies if desired.
