Some new cookbooks (new to me!)
Misc. Wanted to post some of the cookbooks I am currently purusing.
A dear friend of my Mother, knowing I am a cookbook collector, sent me a 1922 edition of Aunt Caroline's Dixieland Recipes. It has some handwritten recipes, favorites of the original owner, I imagine, included on pages left blank for that purpose. What a treasure!!
The cookbook occupying the space on the night stand for late-night reading at the moment is Cesare Casella & Eileen Daspin's Diary of a Tuscan Chef, it's a great read & I am anxious to try some of the recipes.
The trip to the Post Office today produced a box from Edward R. Hamilton, bookseller. Two landscape/garden & a blacksmithing book for DH. For me, This Can't Be Tofu! by Deborah Madison & Beat This! (Absolutely Unbeatable Knock-'em-Dead Recipes for the Very Best Dishes) by Ann Hodgman.Cover says she's the author of Beat That! Not sure how I ended up with 2 cookbooks in one day with titles that both end in exclamation points, but can't ponder that, I need to get busy reading them & creating in the kitchen!! I sure love this site, thanks to all who contribute!
