Recipe: Colorado Daddy's Dunkers (cookies)

COLORADO DADDY'S DUNKERS

Ron and Lisa Browning co-chaired their church's cookbook, Feeding the Sheep. In the book Lisa ends her recipe instructions with "This is my dad's favorite cookie. He likes to dunk these in coffee or milk!" Her father, Curtis McEarl, recently passed away and Lisa wants everyone to enjoy his favorite cookie, "Daddy's Dunkers."

1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 tbsp cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs, then cream and vanilla. Sift in dry ingredients. Mix well.

Pinch into 1-inch balls and press with flour-dipped tines of fork onto well greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 400 degrees F just until edges are light brown. Don't brown whole cookie.
