Recipe: Pinecone Covered Basket
CraftsPINECONE COVERED BASKET
"Bring the beauty of nature indoors for the holidays with a pinecone-covered basket. Filled with treats, it makes a great gift--but you'll want one to brighten your home too."
TO MAKE THE BASKET:
Glue pinecones (which you gather yourself or buy at a crafts store) to the sides of a basket. A low-heat glue gun works best for this. (We used 66 cones to cover a basket 9-inch in diameter, with sides 5-inches high.)
Tie tiny Christmas balls together in small bunches by inserting wire or bag ties through the loops. (We made 18 groups of 3.) Twist wire ends together and attach to the basket between pinecones with wire or glue.
Wind ribbon around the handle, pinning ends in place, then tie a big bow around one end.
TO FINISH:
Fill with cookies, fruit or Christmas balls, food mixes, teas... for that special gift!
