Recipe(tried): Rouladden

Misc.
This is a long-time family favorite from my husband's side of the family. I hope you all will enjoy it.

Rouladden

2-3 round steaks, sliced thin
bacon
Dill Pickles, sliced lengthwise
Carrots, sliced lengthwise
Onion, thinly sliced

Depending on the size of your round steaks, cut them in half lengthwise, and if they are still too big, slice in half crosswise. Dredge the slices in a little flour, give it a pound for good measure. (these have to be really thin) Cut your bacon, pickles, carrots and onions in half to fit on the slices, put a piece of each on a steak slice. Sprinkle with a little salt and pepper, and roll up, securing with a skewer or toothpick. Brown in 1-2 tbls. oil in a heavy pot (I use a cast iron Dutch Oven). Pour enough water over the roulades just to cover. Cook for 2-3 hours. Wen they are done remove to a platter, and add flour and water to gravy to thicken. Serve over hot buttered noodles. Enjoy.
