Recipe: Tiny Tim Apples (no bake cookies) (Diamond Walnuts, 1959)

1 cup pitted dates
1 cup seedless raisins
8 oz. dried figs
1 cup walnuts
1 tsp. grated orange rind
1 Tbsp. orange juice
1/2 cup ground walnuts
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Whole cloves and citron pieces, optional (for garnish)
Put fruits, walnuts and orange rind through food chopper, using coarse blade. Scrape into small bowl. Add juice; knead until well-blended.
Roll into balls about 1-inch thick. Roll some in finely chopped walnuts, some in powdered sugar.
Insert whole cloves for "stems" and citron pieces for "leaves."
Makes 18 cookies
