SUN-MAID RAISIN NUT CAKE

2/3 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup sour milk
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup walnut kernels, coarsely chopped
1 1/2 cups Sun-Maid Raisins, cut in pieces
Cream butter with brown sugar; then add molasses, beaten eggs, and sour milk in which has been dissolved the baking soda.
Mix and sift the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and cloves. Add to this dry mixture the raisins (cut in pieces) and the walnuts coarsely chopped. Then combine these dry ingredients with the first mixture.
Bake in three (greased) layer cake pans in a moderate oven (375 degrees F) for 25 minutes. Cover (cooled layers) generously with your favorite icing.
Makes one (3-layer) cake
