lunch ideas

Misc.
Leftovers are always a favorite with us for tomorrow's lunch. Make extra the night before then pack it up so it is ready to go to school/work in the morning. Things like caserols, stir frys, pasta salads, garden salads, tuna salads etc are great. If you have access to a microwave it will make it even easier to send variety. Send in microwavable containers. If there isn't a microwave, send things in hot thermoses or things that can be eaten cold.

Make sandwiches more interesting by changing the breads. Try pitas, wraps, focotia bread, and a variety of other loaf breads, don't keep using plain old white or brown.

Snacks like fresh fruit, veggie sticks (send a little dip with them too), crackers and cheese, pretzels, popcorn, muffins, homemade sweets like squares & cookies are always good to have at lunch at school or on the road.

Send a varity of drinks like different flavours of juice packs, ice tea, choc or white milk, tea or coffee. If the lunch needs to be kept cold, send the drink in the pack frozen. It will help keep things cold and still thaw by lunch time for a cold drink.

Use your imagination and be creative. Have things made up the night before so you aren't left in a rush to get it done in the hectic morning. That way you'll have time to think of variety and ensure that you are sending a healthy lunch with items from the four food groups with your family.
