Recipe: Juanita's Champion Raisin Bars

Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars
JUANITA'S CHAMPION RAISIN BARS
(County Fair Winner)

1 3/4 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup raisins
1 cup apple juice
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup white granulated sugar
1/2 to 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Powdered sugar

Sift dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Set aside.

Place raisins in a saucepan and cover with juice. Bring to a full boil. Remove from heat and stir in butter. Let cool.

When raisin mixture is cooled, add egg and vanilla. Stir in sugar until dissolved. Pour over flour mixture and beat until smooth. Fold in walnuts. Pour into greased and floured jelly roll pan.

Bake at 375 degrees F for 12 to 15 minutes. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar.
