CHUCK WAGON PECAN BREAD
130 year old recipe from the Texas wagon train days.
3 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup milk
1/4 cup shortening, melted
1 egg
2 cups chopped pecans
Mix flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
Mix milk with melted shortening and egg; add to the flour mixture. Stir in the pecans. Pour into a greased 9x5 loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 50-60 minutes.
