Hi Carol,
I'm a St. Louisan too.
There must be a trillion different Jello salad recipes. This is the one my mom made for every holiday meal, and sometimes summer barbecues, too.

Mix a 3-oz. box of lime gelatin with 3/4 cup boiling water till dissolved. Add 1 cup of evaporated milk; chill till partially set, stirring occasionally to keep it smooth. Blend in a small can [about 8 or 9 oz] of undrained crushed pineapple in juice, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 cup creamed cottage cheese, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1/2 cup thin-sliced celery, and 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Chill until firm.
