Recipe: Frosted Meat Loaf (Campbell's soup ad, 1960's)

FROSTED MEAT LOAF



1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can Campbell's Condensed Golden Mushroom Soup, divided use
1 cup small bread cubes
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
Generous dash pepper
2 cups mashed potatoes
1/4 cup water
1 to 2 tablespoons drippings

Mix thoroughly beef, 1/2 cup (undiluted) soup, bread, onion, egg, salt and pepper. Shape firmly into loaf; place in shallow baking pan.

Bake at 3S0 degrees F for one hour.

Frost loaf with potatoes; bake 15 minutes more.

Blend remaining (undiluted) soup, 1/4 cup water, and drippings from the meat loaf. Heat. Serve with loaf.

Makes 4 to 6 servings
