Recipe(tried): Pool Room Hot Dogs and Coca-Cola Baked Beans - Ideas for your party - use crockpots for ease
Holidays, CelebrationsYou can do all of these in a crockpot, (brown the beef first); also you can do the hot dogs in a crockpot (turn on when setting up & use high setting. Also along with your deviled eggs make some macaroni salad.
POOL ROOM HOT DOGS
1 pound ground beef
water (as needed)
salt (to taste)
fresh ground black pepper (to taste)
1 tablespoon chili powder (or to taste)
1 package hot dogs, cooked or grilled
1 package hot dog buns, steamed)
chopped onion (as needed)
mustard (as needed)
In a heavy cast iron skillet bring meat and water, enough to keep from sticking, to a simmer. Break up the meat into fine particles, as fine as you can get it.
Add seasonings and mix well. Cover and cook until almost dry. Do not let it burn.
Serve over a steamed weiner, in a steamed soft bun with onions and mustard, if desired.

COCA-COLA BAKED BEANS
2 16-oz cans great northern beans
6 ounces Coca-Cola
1/4 cup diced onion
1/4 cup diced green bell pepper
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard or dry mustard (1 tsp)
1/4 cup ketchup
6 strips bacon
Saut 2 strips of bacon with onion and green pepper until lightly browned.
Drain off fat, then stir in all other ingredients except the remaining bacon. Bring to a boil.
Pour into a greased casserole dish. Place the remaining bacon strips on top.
Bake at 325 degrees F for 45 to 50 minutes.
Description: "Beans baked in a sauce of Coca Cola /w onions, green pepper, brown sugar, ketchup and topped with bacon strips."
NOTES : Tom S made these on 2/5/06 - very good and tasty. Took about 55 minutes baking time.
