Recipe: Turkey Meatballs in Cranberry-BBQ Sauce (crock pot)

TURKEY MEATBALLS IN CRANBERRY-BBQ SAUCE

FOR THE SAUCE:
1 (16 oz.) can jellied cranberry sauce
1/2 cup bottled barbecue sauce
FOR THE MEATBALLS:
1 lb. 93% lean ground turkey
1 egg white, lightly beaten
1 green onion with top sliced
2 tsp. grated orange peel
1 tsp. reduced sodium soy sauce
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
1/8 tsp. ground red pepper (optional)

TO PREPARE THE SAUCE:
Combine cranberry sauce and barbecue sauce in crock pot.

Cover and cook on high 20-30 minutes or until cranberry sauce melts and mixture is hot.

TO PREPARE THE MEATBALLS:
Combine the ingredients for the meatballs; mix until blended. Shape into 24 balls.

Spray a skillet with cooking spray. Add meatballs to skillet and cook over medium heat 8-10 minutes, turning to brown evenly. Add meatballs to heated sauce in crock pot. Stir gently to coat.

Reduce crock pot to low; cover and cook three hours. Serve.

Makes 24 meatballs (appetizer-size)
