ISO: German Potato Pancakes

Many years ago I used to have breakfast at a Smittys Pancake House south of Tacoma Washington. They would serve up Greman Potato pancakes that included some onion and some bacon. I ahve been thinking about those pancakses and would like to find a recipe tht re-creates that great taste. Any Help?
