How thick do slices of meat ....

I just got the Jumbo GF grill. Tried to cook slices of Spam on it last night
and only the bottom got the grill marks on it. The top did not, but it did get
hot. I had to flip them to get the grill marks on both sides. Did I cut the
slices to thin? Has anybody had this problem. I've heard people say they've
cooked bacon in it. Does both sides brown with bacon? Please help. Thanks in
advance.
