Re: Babka's

Misc.
What a wonderful collection of babka recipes. I married a Polish family (yes the entire family becomes yours) and I was visiting with my husband's godmother, who was close to 90, and we were talking about Babka, which we had just had at her house. It was so moist and rich. And a lovely yellow color, which it's supposed to be. Anyway, I said that it must have a lot of eggs in it, and she whispered in my ear, don't you dare tell anyone, but I always put a few drops of yellow food coloring in it. Precious lady, rest her soul! I've always thought of that when I see these lovely yellow babka's and I have another chuckle thinking about her!!

Guess this should be in the nostalgia site!!
